EDGE COMPUTING
Edge Computing atau Komputasi tepian adalah model komputasi terdistribusi yang mendekatkan komputasi dan penyimpanan data ke sumber data. Secara lebih luas, ini mengacu pada desain apa pun yang mendorong komputasi secara fisik lebih dekat ke pengguna, sehingga dapat mengurangi latensi dibandingkan ketika aplikasi berjalan pada pusat data terpusat.
Komputasi edge, atau komputasi tepian dalam Bahasa Indonesia, adalah sebuah model komputasi terdistribusi yang memproses data sedekat mungkin dengan sumber aslinya, di bagian "tepi" jaringan. Dengan kata lain, pemrosesan data dilakukan secara lokal di perangkat atau server kecil yang berada dekat dengan tempat data tersebut dihasilkan.
Ini berbeda dengan komputasi awan (cloud computing) yang memusatkan pemrosesan data di pusat data besar yang terpencil. Komputasi edge menawarkan beberapa keuntungan, terutama:
Latency yang lebih rendah: Karena data tidak perlu dikirimkan ke pusat data yang jauh, pemrosesan dapat dilakukan lebih cepat, sehingga menghasilkan keputusan dan tindakan yang lebih real-time.
Penghematan biaya: Mentransfer data dalam jumlah besar ke cloud bisa mahal. Komputasi edge mengurangi jumlah data yang perlu dikirim, sehingga dapat menghemat biaya bandwidth.
Keamanan yang lebih baik: Beberapa data sensitif mungkin lebih aman untuk diproses secara lokal daripada dikirim ke cloud.
Keandalan yang lebih tinggi: Komputasi edge dapat terus beroperasi bahkan ketika koneksi internet terputus, karena pemrosesan data masih bisa dilakukan secara lokal.
Komputasi edge sering digunakan bersama dengan perangkat Internet of Things (IoT) yang menghasilkan data dalam jumlah besar.
Contoh penerapannya meliputi:
Mobil pintar yang terhubung: Mobil dapat memproses data sensor secara lokal untuk mendeteksi potensi masalah mesin dan mengambil tindakan korektif.
Analisis video real-time: Kamera keamanan dapat menganalisis video secara lokal untuk mendeteksi anomali dan mengirimkan peringatan.
Pemantauan kondisi peralatan di pabrik: Sensor yang terpasang pada mesin dapat memproses data getaran dan suhu secara lokal untuk memprediksi kegagalan peralatan.
Dengan semakin banyaknya perangkat yang terhubung ke internet, komputasi edge diperkirakan akan semakin berkembang pesat di masa depan.

Neu-X102 series are powered by Intel® processor N50, N97 (Alder Lake-N) featuring upgraded computing performance with low power-efficient and integrated a rich set of IOT features.
